A Note of Appreciation
The Foundation’s Directors Jeanne and Denny Palandro, Sr. received a wonderful and memorable note of appreciation from Clearview Regional High School graduating senior Matthew Leo, who received our scholarship in memory of Denny Palandro, Jr. He is clearly a very special young man.
The handwritten note is posted below, but in case it’s difficult to read, here is the text:
“It was a pleasure to meet both of you and to learn about what a remarkable man Denny, Jr. was. We shared many interests and I know I would have liked him very much. Although we spoke after the awards ceremony, I wanted to send an additional letter expressing my gratitude. This scholarship will not only help fund my education, but will also provide me with a greater sense of pride by honoring Denny and keeping his memory at the forefront of my journey in life.”
“Throughout the next four years, I will be attending Massachusetts Maritime Academy and majoring in Maritime Transportation. This is a regimented-style Academy and I will be held at very high standards. I will also be attending one semester per year while serving as a crew member on a 500-foot ship cruising across the globe in order to earn my U. S. Coast Guard license. My time at Mass Maritime will be challenging, but it will also be one of the most incredible experiences of my life.”
